The exhibition showcases a haptic device developed by Force Dimension, an EPFL spin-off, which allows astronauts to control robots from the space station whilst feeling what they touch. The device transmits movements and sends haptic feedback back – such as the weight or resistance of a surface. In 2019, this technology enabled an ESA astronaut to guide a rover through a simulated lunar landscape and collect rock samples as if holding them directly. Visitors can try the device themselves.
