The project explores the musical connections between Arab-Andalusian traditions and Greek rebetiko. Ensemble Andalusí del Mediterráneo from Granada and Aman Rebetiko from Kavala create a dialogue where centuries-old melodies and improvisations express Mediterranean themes of love, exile and longing. Arab-Andalusian music, born from the fusion of Arabic, Berber, Iberian and Jewish cultures, contributed to the later emergence of rebetiko as it spread eastward.
