About

Automatically translated from German

The concert features Béla Bartók's first Piano Concerto, with its striking contrasts between pulsing intensity and mysterious sensuality, alongside Fanny Hensel's major piano cycle Das Jahr, orchestrated by composer Detlev Glanert. Hensel's twelve monthly pieces combine moods, landscape impressions and chorales into a poetic whole, possibly inspired by her Italian journey. Internationally renowned pianist Yulianne Avdeeva, winner of the 2010 Chopin Competition, will illuminate the facets of both works.
